Vectron
Strategy Guide
Changing Map
The most important thing to remember in Vectron, is dat certain switches
cause walls to (dis)appear. This seems very confusing at first, so you'll
have to map the field out very carefully, constantly checking what effect
a certain switch had.
How to deal with the switches
Once you've opened a trapdoor (which reveals a switch or an item or
something like that), it stays open. To avoid resetting a switch you already
set, just make sure that you only activate switches from trapdoors you've
just opened. When you encounter a switch (with open trapdoors) you know
you've already activated it.
The enemies
Use burst fire. To do this, press the firebutton and keep it pressed
for a moment, and your ship will turn a darker shade of red. Burst fire
is now charged. Release the firebutton to fire a bullet with three times
the power of a normal bullet. This is the best weapon by far. Also, avoid
triggering the spores. Otherwise they mutate into trackers, and THEN you've
got REAL problems! Shoot the spores from a distance if possible.
Shops
Certain shops are cheaper than others. It's not unwise to map out which
item costs how much at a certain shop. Buy lots of weapon pods to stand
a chance against the trackers later on in the game.
Items
Because not every one who has a copy of this game has a manual, I feel
compelled to explain a bit...
Crystal
There is only one true powercrystal, which can be touched in the game.
This will release the power inside, and free the planet!
Trap door
Most of the time players will encounter closed trapdoors like these. They
open when touched, and reveal an item. They remain open once you've triggered
them, so you can be sure that trapdoors that are closed are "new" ones
that you had not explored yet.
Enemy base
Enemy bases cannot be destroyed. They create new enemies when you destroy
droids.
Time Stop
Stops the motion of the enemies for a limited amount of time.
Energy refill
Will add some energy to your shield power.
Weapon upgrade
Very valuable, because using this you can destroy bigger enemies.
Complete Energy refill
Will restore all your shield power.
Switch
These switches are crucial to the game: how you should deal with them
has been described at the top.
Power line on
Do not touch!! If you happen to touch one, you must find the corresponding
power line off to undo the effect.
Power line off
Always touch them, as they open up certain passages.
Shop card
A vital item that allows you to enter shops.
Teleport core
This item can always be laid down by using it. When placed somewhere,
you can instantly return to that place by pressing [CTRL].
Energy container
You can collect these and use them later to recharge your shields.
Sector map
Not very useful, it provides the name of the sector you're in. Don't buy
this because it's not useful.
Credits
These discs contain money, which can later be spent in the shops.
